THE CHATEAU AFRICA WINE COLLECTIVE

Château Africa is a wine collective based near Paarl in the Cape Winelands, South Africa.

How it works: whatever each member contributes to the production of the wine is assigned a monetary value. Contributions may include grapes, wine making time and facilities; supplying screw caps or corks and capsules; bottling; label design and production; marketing; or purely financial contributions. Based on the extent of your contribution, you’ll be paid out from the proceeds of this venture either as cash from sales or in cases of your wine, or receive an ownership share in the company.

This year, 2009, we welcome contributions in the following areas:

LABELS

  • Label design

  • Supply of printed labels

  • Labelling of bottles

BOTTLING

  • 750ml wine bottles

  • Bottling

CLOSURES

  • Corks and capsules

  • Screw caps

Next year, members of the Château Africa collective are invited to become involved in the 2010 harvesting of wine grapes for the second vintage. You’ll also be invited to wine tasting, receive regular updates on how your wine is progressing – and possibly get your signature on the back label of your wine.
